5 easy tips to stay away from acne

Skin is the largest organ of the body. It requires specific care throughout life to stay beautiful and healthy. We believe that the earlier you care about skin, the best you maintain its good health and can limit or even prevent acne.

① Wash the face twice daily: Acne is rarely the result of dirt, but you need to remove the excess oil from the skin.

② Apply an oil-free moisturizer to prevent the skin from becoming too dry. Môme care® formulations are gender-neutral, age specific and really help your skin stay healthy.

③ Refrain from popping or picking at pimples:  It may be tempting to squeeze a pimple, but this usually results in inflammation and scarring.

④ Stay away from sugar. Poor nutrition may make acne-prone teens even more susceptible to breakouts, avoid sugar that spike your blood sugar:

  • Processed foods like chips, crackers, and cookies

  • Starches like white bread, pasta, and potatoes

  • Sugary drinks like soda

Your body responds by cranking out more insulin, which increases the production of skin oils and contributes to the clogging of follicles. It can wreak havoc on your skin," says Valori Treloar, MD, a dermatologist in Newton, Mass., and coauthor of The Clear Skin Diet.

⑤ Reduce stress: Stress often causes inflammation, which can make breakouts worse. Below are some means of reducing stress that may help to prevent acne:

  • meditating

  • exercising

  • doing yoga

  • relaxing before bed by reading or taking a bath

  • spending time in nature

  • engaging in hobbies

If none of these methods show improvement in 6 to 8 weeks, see a dermatologist for further recommendations.
